Description of the Webquest

The scene:  The school library at PS 12 has just been re-modeled.  All of the shelves and books have been removed and replaced with brand new furniture, and the books need to be placed back so that we can find them easily.  We also have many many new books coming in soon!  We are hoping that the library becomes the place you will want to come to do all of your school projects and find fantastic books to read for fun!

 

Your job:  To put the library back together, and learn about all of the types of books, reference materials, and some fun web sites to use to help you present your information.

 

  To complete your project, you must perform the following tasks and turn in the work as specified:

 

 

• Learn facts about Melvil Dewey and create a narrated presentation with your facts using PowerPoint.

• Use Destiny to figure out how to find what you are looking for by narrowing down your search terms using a "search ladder" organizer.

• Discover what Dewey numbers mean and create 10 beautiful Wordles, 1 for each set of numbers.

• Explore how to find books using the Dewey numbers.

• Write a script and create a 30 second - 1 minute persuasive commercial video.

• Physically locate books on a topic of your choice gather them from the shelves.
